That samovar from page 201 wasn't standing there just for decoration. Chief's family actually makes tea with it. Well, sort of: the climate here isn't warm enough for the real rea trees, so people use various herbs for the same purpose. The tea ceremony is supposed to bring people together and Lara's untouched cup of tea in this context (while Ksenya's is in her hand) means that the chief is not eager to renew the old friendship and is still angry with her friend.

"Gifts of wandering ice" webcomic is based on the short novel written by Makarova Olga. The story differs a bit though. Both art and English translation were made by the author of the original novel.
